Default if nvidia driver then resolution goes too high! (ignoring xorg.conf?)

Hello,

I have GeForce4 Ti 4400 and Gentoo linux with Xorg 6.7.0-r2.
Linux kernel 2.6.8-gentoo-r7. Nvidia driver 1.0.5336-r4 and
Nvidia-glx driver 1.0.5336-r4.

Problem is that when i use xorg with nvidia driver, then it simply
ignores resolution what is put to xorg.xonf

For example:

(II) NVIDIA(0): AGP 4X successfully initialized
(II) NVIDIA(0): Setting mode "1792x1344"

but please see my full xorg.xonf

Default Re: if nvidia driver then resolution goes too high! (ignoring xorg.conf?)

I had the same problem with meta-modes in twinview.
I got it working with the ConnectedMonitor, HorizSync and VertRefresh options. For my configuration this did the trick :
Option "HorizSync" "CRT-0: 30-61, DFP-0: 30-61"
Option "VertRefresh" "CRT-0: 50-120, DFP-0: 50-120"
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT, CRT"
If you have a single monitor plugged to your card, try adding this in the device section :
Option "HorizSync" "CRT-0: 30-110"
Option "VertRefresh" "CRT-0: 50-160"
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT"
And restart the X server.

[edit] BTW I just saw your depth is set to 16. Never do that ! nVidia cards are much more optimized for full 24-bit color range, so replace the following line :
Depth 16
with :
Depth 24
(in the display section of course).

I suspect that X was starting with a DefaultDepth of 24 all along, and that the lack of an appropriate Display subsection caused the problem.

Default Re: if nvidia driver then resolution goes too high! (ignoring xorg.conf?)

problem is still same. at one part i did get it to work.
used default resolution but then i reconfigured hsync and vertsync to be right for DeluxScan P910+ and now it is putting even more bigger resolution..
