It has some nice effects in the demo but as others have said some of them are way overdone. It is running smooth as could be for me at 1280X960 with 4XAA and AF selected in the game and 8XAF forced in the CP. Generally it'srunning between 30 and 80 FPS for me. 30+ more screens in the directory below.

Ok, I figured out why I had such a performance problem. It is actually Fraps. For some reason when I run Fraps in the background, my FPS goes to hell. It's super laggy like 29fps with Fraps running. With it not running it looks to be around 60-100

Very nice demo ! .. i dont know why you guys though that all these new effects will come for free ? of course its going to take more performance .
anyway the specular maps , heat & haze distortion effects looks good . i agree about the overdoing though but still looks cool to me . ![]() we are still to see the new 10 levels , as i understand the demo only shows what the enhacments did with the original game ... maybe the new levels will have a better design & performance ? when i get the expansion i'll have to replay the game for the third time to see the original levels with the new features as well as the new expnasion levels . ![]()

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely going to check this out when I get home tonight. I am going to be curious as to performance on my X800 Pro. I hope the expansion pack is going to be cheap, though. I'm already spending enough cash on games as it is (DOA: Ultimate, Halo 2, HL2 collector's).

I've tried the demo even though I have already played this level in the full game. The first thing I noticed is that now it runs much slower. I used to play at 1024x768 AA4x and with all the eyecandy. Now the game is totally unplayable at the same settings: things get better if I disable Dynamic Lighting but I also have to drop AA.
The SFX are also available with a SM 2 card. I noticed that the textures also look sharper, as if they were sampled at higher resolution.

Well, there's quite a difference between a GeForce 6800U and a 5700U
![]() The fact is that the latest revision of the Pain engine is way to heavy for my system. ![]()
