Default Pre-loading Half-Life 2

Ive started pre-loading HL2, it looks like its gonna take a while so im leaving it do the bizz!

I just wanted to know how much gets pre-loaded and how much i'll get when its released??

I suppose this means Half-Life 2 is just around the corner. yay

Are there any new maps or skins for CS:Source yet??

Cheers

There are some custom maps floating around for CS:S but they are horrible by comparison to the current retail release because Valve has not released an official map editor.

The current HL2 Preload has the Materials (Textures), Sounds, models and some engine stuff. Its missing alot still, noticably maps...

So when Half-life 2 gets released we can start downloading the rest of the game straight away and play within a couple of hours. Cool!

I cant wait for more maps and other stuff to come out for CS:Source, the game is so much fun.

How do i change my spray logo in CS:S?? Ive seen some really cool ones being used by other players.

I think last night when I finished preloading it said you will be ready to play hl2 when it's released. But I'm guess maybe there will be a bit more to dl to bring it up to date.

Steam servers are sure gonna be busy when they announce its release!! (I cant wait).
I just hope there's not loads to download to finally get it working.

How big is the HL2 preloaded file??

HL2 Preload is multiple files...

base source shared materials.gcf = 1.01GB
base source shared models.gcf = 458MB
base source shared sounds.gcf = 972MB
base source shared.gcf = 65.7MB

Total: 2.48GB

Probably going to have another 500MB to 1GB download to go. It will also probably happen before release if they are smart, the network will be very congested and many people wouldnt be able to get it all on the day of release.
