So, is this game gonna run @ 1080i? If so, then DANG!! I wonder how nv2x can keep up @ this level of IQ... the textures look pretty good, even on the walls and stuff... I'll admit they could be better, but we're talking about a circa 2k1 graphics chip in this console!!

This just goes to show that if you spend enough time optimizing for a single chip , what could happen. If the 6800 and x800 got this same attention to detail, imagine what our games would look like...

The AA is probably added just like it is for any other major release screenshot... but as I understand it, the graphics for MP have been toned down to give a better Live experience. SP should look even better.

None of the Xbox games runs at native 1080i. The frame+Z buffers would take half of the Xbox RAM, not to mention that its GPU does not have the fillrate power to run complex games at such a high definition. When using custom resolutions, the Xbox RAMDAC is able to stretch the image on the fly; it's a sort of upsampling.

Yeah I know its an XBox... but, BLEH. So many bright colors, yet it looks so bland.

Those shots are indicative of what most console devs do - take a screenshot from a development box at ungodly resolution, then downsample it to give the impression of something like 16X AA.

So no - the Xbox version will not look like that. 480p is the max (640*480), and I seriously doubt any form of AA. Lower the res significantly, add a whallop of jaggies - that's what it will look like. I don't think anyone will confuse it with Far Cry.

I'll still be picking it up of course.

480p isn't even a true HD resolution. Those would be 720p and 1080i. The HD standard calls for a 16x9 aspect ratio (widescreen) and 5.1 surround sound. Almost all Xbox games are 480p, which is just the progressive scan version of 640x480 just like a PC monitor does. There is no way in hell this game will run in any true HD resolution. Widescreen is the most we can hope for, with the usual 480p and DD5.1 support. I also doubt the game will have any anti-aliasing on the Xbox as I bet the graphics core is already getting pushed to the limit.

That won't stop me from getting the game for my Xbox though. The original was fun playing split-screen mode on Legendary mode - that is what I mainly played the game for. I will leave the multiplayer DM stuff to the PC probably.
