Default RIVA128 on Fedora Core 3

Thanks in Advance for any thoughts about this:
I have an old P2 that I have installed Fedora Core 3 on. Unfortunately, no OpenGL apps like tuxracer, screensavers, etc. work. As near as I can tell the MESA GL libraries are installed. From what I can tell from my hours of googling nVidia doesn't have a Linux driver for this card, but the 'nv' listing in xorg.conf is sufficient to get x going.
However, when I run OpenGL apps I get the message:

Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".

The Xorg.log has only one error:

(EE) Failed to initialize GLX extension (NVIDIA X driver not found)

But I'm not having any luck finding the nvidia driver that applies to the RIVA128 card

The nvidia driver doesn't work on riva128. When you use the nv driver on x.org you will ONLY have 2d, there's no working 3d driver for your card. Likely you tried to install the nvidia drivers (that's why x ask for the nvidia drivers regarding GLX) remove those and then reinstall mesa to get some basic opengl working. (software rendering)

If you really want 3d consider looking for some old videocard like a riva tnt which has opengl support.

The NVIDIA accelerated Linux driver set doesn't support the RIVA128 (it supports TNT and newer). You're limited to the Xorg/XFree86 "nv" driver (2D only, as you noted).
