Default Will Nvidia EVER fix the shimmering problem?

I really am starting to get at my wits end here. Its been what, 6 months since launch? STILL the shimmering continues. The latest drivers have it WORSE then before. This bug makes some games completely unplayable, and leaves noticeable artifacts in countless others. i really am upset about this, nvidia doesnt even seem to acknoledge the problem. I really would like answers about this, and i want them now.

I made a thread at [H] asking Brent and/or Kyle to ask Nvidia about it but most people there dont think the bug really exists.

the only shimmering I get is if I set up the lod bias high within a game...its been the same for years with n/vidia stuff..........just like Omega tweaked n/v drivers......I posted to him about this problem ages ago....if you set the Level Of Detail down it cures it.To be honest I thought this was the norm for all gfx cards unless you ran well massive resolutions.

Yeah, shimmering is still noticable. Where do you get 20%? Try 5%.

WTF, is "shimmering"?!?!

I run High Quality, because in the games I tested there is no performance loss and in Serious Sam SE, it actually got better performance than the "optimized" Quality setting and looks MUCH better.

Jaggies in the textures. IMO, they should only exist on edges. Only SSAA can get rid of shimmering.

No. Shimmering is rough transition of mipmaps. The only time you get jaggies is when you have VDM like your seeing in Doom 3.

If I can ever get that replacement 6800.. (I am being told its "Coming") I do have an idea that could be a "work around" to the shimmering problem.

But atm I am not gonna post anything until I have at least tested it (and seen possible repercussions myself)

Running high quality mode on my 6800 Ultra with optimizations off seems to pretty much eliminate most of the problem for me using the 61.77 drivers.

Does it have to do with the LOD mipmap bias in RivaTuner?
