They said the same about Halo 1 I think. Well I'll be waiting for it to come on PC, I'm sure it's going to be great. If I manage to buy a xbox, ill be sure to pick up Halo 2 though. It looks good. Probably not as good as HL2 (in my opinion), but still good.

Wheee.

It's a normal day @ Nvnews forums.
No, its not a normal day on NVnews forums! If you think this is normal, there are only very few possibilities:

1. You are one of the sources for this kind of "normal day", and thats why you see it everyday.

2. You are confusing Rage3D with NVnews.

Seriously, because I do not recognize this kind of behavior here at NVnews forums

This thread is pathetic........but as far as some of you saying that halo 2's graphics aren't compareable to HL2, YOU ARE WRONG! This game has amazing visuals, especially during the cutscenes which are all in REAL-TIME. Trust me, I've played all the newest games that are taxing my hardware on 1600x1200 4x/8x, and they still don't compare to Halo 2....I'd post some pics but I'd probably get in trouble with bungie and MS. Otherwise I would.

Now, some if you will say that it's just during the cutscenes, well ur wrong again. Take my word for it or not, you can be as ignorant as you want, but Halo 2 is awesome as will HL2.

Games are about gameplay, these games are totally different. If you are going to compare these 2, why not throw in flatout?

Dude...COME ON. How stupid do you think we are? You are either lying or playing the leaked version. Don't pull that crap.

Please do two things:

1) See an optometrist immediately.
2) Stop trolling.

I've seen the leaked screenshots. It does not compare to HL2 visually. I'm sure it will be a great game and I'll have my copy of Halo2, but if you truly believe it looks as good as HL2, let alone Far Cry/Doom3, then put down the tub of vaseline in front of your eyes.

Trying to compare graphics between those two is anything you want but fair. Halo is on a fixed platform, with fixed resolution etc. HL2 isn't. In theory, you could only take a pc with Xbox's specs and then run both games and compare them but even that wouldn't quite be objective since Halo is optimised especially for the box. In short, there is absolutely no common denominator here so why bother with shots and "trust me dude, i know" and stuff like that?

Even the effort the two companies have put (or the obstacles they had to pass) into the graphics department can't be objectively compared because of the different platforms. Bungie knows all too well that they only have to work on one standard platform but are restrained by it and have to optimize it as much as they can. Valve on the other hand has to try and take advantage of every different pc's specs at the maximum and make the thing scalable. More importantly however, and often a neglectable variant (and we simply cannot tell for sure) is the priorities of each company. And i'm talking about conscientious design desicions here. One studio could go for maximum detail at the expense of say, level size or load times, the other could opt to do huge levels but with bland textures.

Anyway, it's funny how everyone bashes the thread starter but in the meantime the thread's quite a big hit isn't it? After both games get released, such a thread would be quite interesting for those who will have played both games. Then they will be able to say which game was the most fun to play (screw the graphics). I could see HL2 winning in SP, with Halo 2 being more fun in MP. We will see.

I just wish they'd reconsider and port Halo2 over, hopefully doing a better job then the first one. I might end up getting an xbox or borrowing it from a friend just to play this one game.

Which is exactly why a PC port won't be forthcoming anytime soon.
