Nah, this format is the future of HDR. It's higher quality than what the FX & X800 support (HDR through PS emulation), and implementing the lower qual version would be a pain for Crytek.

Use hdr 2, hdr 7 is the nicest looking imo, but it's also the most demanding. 2 looks great just has a few less effects and gives you a good 10-20fps more depending on the scene. I've had nothing but smooth frames using HDR 2 and my card is @ stock. ( Although since the release of this patch, I have been tempted to oc for a few extra frames)

You could include my HighRes Xvid .avi also.

http://www.zfight.com/misc/files/misc/farcry13xvid.avi ~60MB, just showing some basic HDR on the first level.

heads up on some new info:

If you feel the HDR is a bit oversaturated or too bright, on the main menu, go to:
Options/Video Options, and change "Render Mode" to "Cold."

HDR does make some things much more realistic, I was impressed with skin tones looking more like skin vice rubber as well as a number of other scenes. The downer is that I see alot more texture aliasing in motion added with the lack of AA. I went back to normal rendering while I replay this awesome game . Still I can see much promise with this method in the future

Basically, what I was saying. USELESS...

Which HDR mode do you use here? 7?

I say bring HDR on. Any piece of tech that's going to improve IQ in gaming is not not worth winging about.

I think I used mode 2, can't remember though. I like 2 most, because the others bleeds to much I think.

Some time HDR can look very bad, like when the blue sky bleeds in over something, I've never seen that in my whole life, and I won't either because I don't think that will ever happen

I actually got a better movie now, samller size, better res, and that compares HDR 'on' (mode 2) and off (mode 0), and a much better place.

Have you guys seen the pumping station, the large machine in the research map? That one looks SO DAMN GOOD with HDR, really fantasy-ish, mystic feeling.

Looking at the ceiling the HDR effect looks really nice:

But hey, this is totally crap imho:

Way too much contrast and it totally lacks transparency. Is this due to fp16blending Openexr hdr (should fp32 do a better job) or do they combine this HDR with some other kind of effect that spoils the party. Please let them leave this out.
