Lightbulb DVI color issue collect thread (screenshot inside)

Hello,
for me it is not possible to use DVI because of (subtle) color issues with Letters in Text most noticeably tainted.

The problem exists only with the nvidia-driver and Linux(X) (both nv-driver and Windows have no color-issues).

I have tried all possible driver options and everything that I could do, but without any solution.

I wrote a bug report to nvidia with exact explanation, data and screenshot and got no response.

The problem exists with all drivers (tested: 5328 - 6111) whereas the 6111 seems to be a subjective bit better, but still unusable for longer time.

I ask you to post your screenshot and some data and info about what you have observed and tried about this specific problem. Maybe we can come to a solution or get Nvidia in the right direction.

Here is my screenshot attached (yes the artefacts are visible even on the screenshot taken by KSnapshot! HINT )
Have no fear, the picture is "static" LOL, really. Watch closely at the color-artifacts especially at the right side of some of the black letters. Picture was cropped to comply with the 100kb policy of the forum.

Some data from my setup (perfect system until Nvidia change):

GF FX 5600 old model (no flipchip), w/ 1 VGA and 1DVI
Brand: Leadtek A310 TD ViVo
Mandrake Linux 9.1 and 10 tested
Windows 9x/2k works OK
VGA works OK
nv (X-free)-driver apparently is looking OK (have to investigate a little further)
6111 nvidia driver seems a little bit better than the 3 prvious ones
several kernels (also 2.6) tested, same issues remain

Thank you very much

Default Re: DVI color issue collect thread (screenshot inside)

That's caused by subpixel antialiasing. For some reason, it's forced on when using a DVI monitor with the NVIDIA driver. I wish it were left off by default, but you can force it to be off by adding the following to /etc/fonts/fonts.conf:

Code:
    <match>
        <edit name="rgba">
            <const>none</const>
        </edit>
    </match>
It can go after the font directory listing at the beginning of the file.
