I have a monitor that can do 1600x1200. I would like to set the resolution to 1024x768 and make the desktop 1600x1200. That way I can make use of viewport panning behavior. since it is only a 19" monitor, 1600 makes the text in my code a bit too small. By having a panning 1024 viewport I can toss a couple of my windows to the side and have easy access to them when needed. I already can do this with my laptop, does anyone know how to set this up on my PC?
Thanks in advance, Spotch PNY 6800GT on 61.72 drivers. |

If its an LCD monitor simply turn off resolution scaling or centered output, and set the desktop resolution to be high than the displays home resolution. That should do the trick

What if the graphic card cannot display a resolution higher than the monitor's maximum resolution? I scaled down the resolutions in the question in an attempt to get people in these forums to help out. I guess it worked but my problem is that my monitor can do 2048x1536 so if I set the display to any resolution my card is capable of, the monitor simply accepts it. I need top be able to define the view port size independently of the desktop dimensions. |
