Default Nvidia kernel module will not start on Mandrake 10.1

Howdy,

I have finally gotten a usable NVIDIA driver for my Mandrake 10.1 AMD x86-64 install!

Unfortunately, I can only get it to start after reinstalling the module with the Nvidia installer. X will not start on the first try with or without dm running.

My hardware is:

ECS 755-A2 motherboard/1GB DDR RAM/Athlon64 3200+ 754 pin
Nvidia G-Force 4 ti 4200 GPU

The log file simply says "failed to initialize the Nvidia kernel module" with no other clues.

Here is my XF86Config(xorg.conf) file:

Manually modprobe nvidia and look for clues in dmesg. You may want to put nvidia in /etc/modprobe.preload
