Hi,
Awhile ago I submitted my half life 2 voucher to ATI to get the hard copy of the game (i only chose the hard copy of the game). But just today I used the cd key on my voucher to preload half-life 2. I expect that there will be a delay until I can get a hard copy so I thought it might be good to preload steam to play it right away. Does this mean I have invalidated my hardcopy purchase? I don't remember the terms. But I have read that you can only do one or the other but not both?

I think so . if you choose to preload the game you lose you chance to get a hard copy of it .
otherwise everyone would ask for both .. including me ![]()

are you sure about this?
How would ATI find out that I preloaded the game. Here's what it says on the ati half-life 2 offer site: Quote:

Think about it for a second. Under what you're asking, you would be getting 2 copies of the game, one via Steam, the other in hard copy. You don't think ATI and Valve thought of this? Read what you quoted again, what they would be receiving a Steam Installer CD - not Half-Life 2.

I don't know. Their language is very ambiguous.

Since the retail version has to be authenticated via Steam, suddenly getting a physical copy becomes much less important.... You can always back up the GCF files on CD if you want.... Cause either way, if your loading it on a fresh computer again, you'll have log back onto steam at least once.
