I've gotten a couple of strange "kernel messages" today related to the nv(e?)net module. One happened right after I sent an e-mail, the second after I had clicked "preview" in a forum BBS board [in fact, I think it was this one... yup, when I was posting about a missing DRI library message]
Here are the lines in question [from /var/log/messages]: Code:
Nov 9 00:51:01 BeastBoy kernel: nvenet_xmit - skb->len > priv->max_frame_size Nov 9 08:01:13 BeastBoy kernel: nvenet_xmit - skb->len > priv->max_frame_size |

yes since nvnet isn't supported by nvidia you should change to the forcedeth driver. Nvidia contributed to it and are helping maintain it.

I find that odd given that the Nvidia site promotes the nvnet driver and the forcedeth driver does not seem to work with the on board LAN.
I am using an Asus A8N5X motherboard with the Nvidia chipset with Debian Linux (kernel 2.6.8-2) and forcedeth is a no go. The nvnet driver works, but keeps posting the error to syslog. localhost kernel: nvenet_xmit - skb->len > priv->max_frame_size I may need to just get an external card. ![]() |

This message is a known nvnet bug:
nvenet_xmit - skb->len > priv->max_frame_size The latest forcedeth (version 0.49 or later) fully supports all hardware on the market. Thanks, Lonni |
