HELP, just got NFS:U 2 installed and can't seem to up the resoultion above 1024x768. I'd like to be able to play at least at 1280 or 1600. Anyone hit this problem? I tried installing patch 1.1 and the problem still presists.

we share the same monitor (dell 2001fp 20'1 lcd) and i have the same problem, i have posted this in guru3d and nobody have any idea on how to fix this, i even called EA and they did not know, but now i get it. dude, the problem is our DELL 2001FP LCD. when the game is decteting our plug and play monitor, it does something that prevent us from playing the game at a higher resolution, and if u don't believe me try BLACK HAWK DOWN, it has the same problem, (res no higher than 1024x768) u might ask, but why can i play all the OTHER games at 1600x1200? well i can play them too. yeah i know it sucks because the game (NFSU 2) looks like crap in our LCD playing at 1024x768 (even with 8xAAx16xAF) it looks blurry. i have done a lot of troubleshooting but nothing, can u try what the other guy did, to see if this work in your dell LCD. and let me know.

did you create a monitor profile? I had to do that before too.

Digital Flat Panel 1280x1024.

I have a LCD with a native res of 1280x1024, but NFSU2 wouldn't go higher than 1024x768. It appeared to have a problem switching to 1280x960 so it thought 1024 was the highest. I made a custom res with the nvidia control panel for 1280x960. NFSU2 could then run at 960 properly and in turn could access 1280x960 after that.

I hope thats no to confusing

Default Found the FIX!!!

Hi all, I found the solution. It seems like it's a game issue, as eduardmc mentioned. The solution is in the registry:

In Registry Editor, go to My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHI
NE\SOFTWARE\EA GAMES\Need for Speed Underground 2 and change the key that says g_RacingResolution.

0 = 640x480
1 = 800x600
2 = 1024x768
3 = ??? - Crashes for me
4 = 1280x1024
5 = 1600x1200 (confirmed)
6 = ??? - Haven't tested

I have tested and confirmed that "5" is 1600x1200 and it works perfectly on my setup now.

Hope this helps anyone with this problem.

thank u man, u have save my live (well not really). i was so disapointed in the game because u know as well as i do that 1024x768 playing NFSU 2 in our lcd looks really, and i mean really ugly, even if it runs great. i wanne to play the game in hi res, at least 1280x1024 so i decided that i wasn't gonna play the game until i find the solution. thank thank thank, now i can post in other forum, of course, giving u credit, that a solutioin is now available. in futuremark.com i found about 15 people with same problem, and guru3d.com about 7 people. well thank u again.

g_RacingResolution "3" = 1280x960 (that's what mine is and where I play it).
