Hi there!
Since 6200 is only available for PCIX and my old board only has AGP I thought a FX5200 would do the job. However I plan to create opengls-programs that make heavy use of fragment shaders and someone told me that there is now hw-support for fragment shaders in this card - its all done by the driver in software. Is thata right? |

Its DX9.0 ps2.0 vs 2.0 supported, but a little slower then most cards.

Well, I prefer APIs that werent designed to bind users to a specific OS amd take all their money away, so I use OpenGL in conjunction with GLSL.
Do you know wether FX5200 supports loops and conditional breaks? Thanks in advance, lg Clemens |

Doom 3 on a fx5200 can use the ARB2 path but it's 20-30% slower than using legacy NV20 path (which uses NVidia own fragment extensions for PS1.1)
Edit: I checked with a friend... the driver says that it supports GL_ARB_fragment_program/shader and GL_ARB_Shading_Language_100. This should answer your questions
