Default disabling windows xp indexing service

i read this article http://www.techaholic.net/winxp/xpindexing.html and wanted to know if you all would say this is a good idea to disable this or a bad idea and what are the advantages/disadvantages? or possible problems i may encounter if i disable this? or benefits ?

I always disable the indexing service. If you don't do alot of searches for files on your machine often, then disable it.

It's probably the first thing I disable when I install Windows.

Disable, Windows XP has too many unuseful processes running. My guess that it eats up some HD performance aswell...

Also you may want to look into NTFSDisableLastAccess, bypass i/o counts, and NTFSDisable8dot3NameCreation.

Hack reg at own peril.

Yes, it's advisable to disable Indexing Service. It's a killer when burning CDs, because your hardisk is always thrashing...
