Default Windows XP Pro

Is it better for gaming/advanced users compared to the home edition?

Nope.

XP pro is just the same as Home Edition, but with a few more services running in the background for networking.

Is it better for advanced users you ask... I would say in a way yes it is, as it is XP uncut so to speak.

I personally believe that us americans are unable to do so because osama.

95% of home users don't need pro really imo, unless you will be using gpedit (group policy) and running servers or have advanced networked computers. most do fine with home. i run pro because of a server and like like having control over gpedit.

I run home for financial reasons. Two hundred bucks was a little too steep for the Pro upgrade version.

Personally, I simply liked the purple/blue loading bar, and Pro sound much more sophisticated than home, but hey, that’s just me..

Arrow Re: Windows XP Pro

I like Pro for these features not found in Home:
- IIS
- SNMP
- Network Monitor
- Multi-processor support
- Dynamic Disk Support/Logical Disk Manager.
- Multi-language support
- Domain membership

IIS is usually one of the more popular reasons why some folks choose XP Pro as they're likely the type that plans on doing some web development with their machine. You can still use XP Home, though, and just use Cassini which is free (but will only work with localhost so strictly for development).

I like Apache web server. It is very stable and fast. Best of all I never had not even 1 person able to hack into it. (and trust me a lot of people tried)
