Default Redhat 7.3 TNT2 Static Logo

My graphics card is reported by windows to be an 'Inno3D TNT2 Model 64 / Model 64 Pro' I am running an Athlon 1.2GHz with 640 mb RAM, with Xwindows currently using the 'nv' driver. I have installed the Linux-IA-32 version of the NVIDIA driver.

I have edited XF86Config to use the 'nvidia' driver. When XWindows starts the NVIDIA logo is displayed on the screen permanently. I can move the mouse, and the mouse even changes shape depending on where it is, but the screen remains static, with the NVIDIA logo. Changing the driver back to the old 'nv' put everything back to normal.

Please, any ideas on where to start troubleshooting?

Yeah, do a search.
No, seriously, the latest drivers have a problem with all TNT2 chipsets.
You need to fallback to the last version.

I think the nv driver would actually be better unless you are using some kind of 3d.
