Default ARGHHH, W2K and WXP networking problem

We have 3 computers on our network, 2 have XP Pro and one has W2K. The W2K box was formatted and installed, no sign on password, one user, which is also the admin. I have shared the W2K D drive but it does not show in My Network places. The little D drive icon has the little shareing hand under it but the XP boxes just can not see the bugger. Any assistance would be a godsend.

go to my computer, in the address bar type

hit enter

computer_name can also be the IP address of the computer with the shared folder. either should work.

you can also go to Tools > Map Network Drive. That way the shared drive will always show up on each of the other computers.

I'm not 100% sure but I seem to remember needing to set a log-on password for the Win2k machine in a similar situation. I then set the machine the log-on automatically but with a password set.

Check and make sure that each computer in the network has the 'Client for Microsoft Networks' installed.

-- It sounds to me like the win2k box doesn't have this installed.

Go to the network connection for each computer, right click, properties, and it should be listed in there along with tcp/ip. If it isn't, install it.
