HI Edge,

The only reason I said Indoor was because of this:

"The Starbreeze Engine is the technology base being used for all projects at Starbreeze. It is a proprietary game-engine fully owned by Starbreeze AB that contains all technology needed to develop and run an advanced in-door or semi-indoor game."

So, I figured there must be reason why they said that.

But, you never know, more work on this engine and maybe they can get Full scene outdoor enviroments as well.

I'd be interested to know what is "preventing" this engine from doing Full Scene Outdoor enviroments.

Test,

Huh, didn't notice that. Guess it is best for indoor environments, I'm guessing it simply doesn't handle large textures or wide geometry locations very well. Will be interesting to see how it can be tweaked though, I remember HL1 was a b**** to do large environments in but I figured out a few tricks that allowed me to make big outdoor areas that still ran well on my 200mhz computer.

I'm not sure if there is anything "preventing" the engine from rendering outdoor scenes, even when considering the somehow cryptic engine feature description by Starbreeze.

Enclave was also based on the same engine than Riddick (although of course on an earlier build with less features) and was perfectly able to render impressive outdoor environments.

Hi Morrow,

Thats kinda strange eh?

I mean, the FPS is so good indoors, With all the eyecandy turned on at (for me 1024x768) seems to my card has alot to spare. (BFG 6800NU OC 400MHzx780)

However, Like I said in an earlier post, When distance (ala long range) is happnen, the game gets very buggy.

Room to room is terrific, but any long range fire fights, its horrible.

I have no idea why that would be the case but it is.

Anybody else notice that?

When shooting from one side of a door, through another, it gets very bad.

It can't be AI (CPU power) causeing this because when you can sneak in a room with lets say 3 tango's, it fine as long you fight them in the same room, but not if you try to engage them from behind a door to another area.

Maybe this is the reason for no outdoor enviroments.

Win XP Pro SP2
AMD XP @ 2.2GHz 512MB PC3500
6800GT not OCed

Thanks

EDIT: I got it. I had to disable completly stereovision.

Just finished the game... it is pretty short, but WOW is it packed full of great gameplay!

The extras are cool too. And the ending was quite satisfying. Much more so than most other games I have played.

Its a bit strange to have completed the game in less than 3 days though... that really is extremely short. I played probably 3 hours the first night. Then maybe 5 yesterday and probably another 5 today. I wont complain though, I enjoyed this game a lot

I hope some people make some good mods for it

Replayability is excellent, I'm going through it again the second time and am finding quite a few things I missed the first time around.

strange - i thought the start where he is walking into the prison was a large outdoor area and it done it well - even tho the movement was scripted , it was still mighty impressive
