Am I the only one who wasn't that impressed with this game? I thought the graphics we're O.K at best. Most of the characters looked like mannequins, and the animations were even less realistic. Plus the shimmering was almost unbareable. I also get annoyed when developer's don't include in game AA settings. The weapons were weak, with the machine gun I had to get within ten feet of the target and empty practically the whole clip into them to kill them. The gameplay and plot were decent and probably the best part of this game, but overall I wasn't terribly impressed.
Combine all that with the fact that there hasn't even been a peep about a patch at the games official forums. It is worth the 29.99 but definetly no more. I guess with Half-Life 2 and FarCry my expectations are getting a little high. |

Well I agree about the shimmering was pretty damn bad and that the devs should put in AA/AF settings. However, I really didnt find it detraceted from the game so much. As for weapons being weak, well if you got a head shot they were dead in a single shot. So no, I actually think the weapons were very well balanced. Dunno, bout animations. Sure as hell werent like HL2 or Doom even but they certainly werent bad.
Out of all the AAA FPS titles of the year, this is the only one I have played through pretty much as quick as I could. Did it in 2-3 sittings. I just didnt find HL2, FarCry or Doom3 interesting enough to want to play through it in long sittings. |

Riddick is certainly one of just a few titles this year where I didn't encounter a single issue. The game worked flawlessly. |

I just beat the game last night and liked it very much all the way through. My only complaint is it was a little short, other than that I highly reccomend it to anybody.

If the shimmering is getting annoying and you have Nvidias cards try using Supersampling antialias modes. I usually use the old 8x mode.. 4xssaa(2xmsaa)
no more shimmering from bright specular lights. yes you cannot play games in highres modes, but image quality is very good. sometimes you can play games in 16xssaa.. does wonders to alpha textures and shaders. |

Updating to sp2 fixed all my crashing problems. that was after the problems installing and changing the dvd drive properties. - still less hassle than hl2 mind

well.... I remember one of my hs friends that was actually tinkering around developing 3d game engines, told me basically indoor and outdoors are completely differnet for various reasons, that i don't remember anymore.. hence why its hard to develop an engine that does both really well seamlessly.
