I'm done (1600x1200 issue)
This is making me sick!
I'm using Linux since 9 years, but resolving this issue is impossible.
I reread Xfree86-Video-Timings-Howto to calculate new modlines for very specified dot clocks (131Mhz, 141Mhz) and trust me,
this is not the first time I'm doing this.
1999 i calculated modlines for my matrox millenium, to get it working with a fixed frequency monitor (Sony GDM-1972 anyone?) and it worked.
But this sucks big time.
The two modelines I calculated are
Modeline "1600x1200" 131.00 1600 1620 1700 1780 1200 1201 1204 1225 +hsync +vsync
Modeline "1600x1200" 141.00 1600 1640 1700 1872 1200 1201 1204 1225 +hsync +vsync
They work flawlessly with the "nv"-driver, but - you will guess it - the nvida-driver is accepting
it and happily shows 1280x1024.
One thing is interesting ...
When I started the X-Server with a calculated modeline, the nvidia-driver makes a little thinking-pause between "white blanking the screen" and "showing the nvidia logo".
This is not the case, when i remove my calculated modelines.
Can anybody from nvidia hear me?!
which is obsolete, because it shouldn't be needed anymore
that means that there is no error, e.g. hsync out of range
