I can just see this debut, people would finally have a reason to switch to linux from MacOSX.

Enlightenment is yesterday's news. Don't get me wrong though, I used it and loved it back in its heyday. Even so, it's just not realistic to expect E to gain back any ground lost to other desktop environments such as KDE, GNOME, XFce, etc. Modern DEs have far surpassed E in functionality, and IMO raster and friends would be wasting effort better spent elsewhere (i.e. on those aforementioned DEs) if they're intending to create yet another one.
KDE and GNOME pretty much have it covered for Windows and Mac converts anyways: KDE offers flexibility, power, and a massive number of features; GNOME offers minimalism and ... er, well, a chosen way to do things. |

This is E17, not the old enlightenment, look at the screens
E17 uses a pretty slick rasterizer.

Used to be a big fan of E. my favorite was DR13 with the Hand of God theme. I was so excited about EFS and even built it against DR16 for a whil there, but then he canned the whole thing and started from scratch with DR17. I have been waiting a good while for Dr17 to the point that I am no longer excited about it. It seems when Gnome dropped them as the WM E started to fade away.
