Question Trouble installing Linux with MX4000 GPU

Hi all. I just built a machine running WinXP pro and want to install Linux Mandrake on my primary slave. My install disks, which have worked fine on other machines won't install. I get a black screen with "Welcome to mandrake 10.0 etc" at the top, but it never loads into memory, just sits there. I've tried installing in "text" mode, expert mode, etc---same thing. It has been suggested that my video card isn't Linux compatible, but NVidia says it is and to download the drivers. My question is: how do I install Linux drivers if I don't can't get Linux installed and running? I've downloaded the driver file (.run) to my Windows desktop, but what do I do with it: Windows doesn't recognize a .run file. I'm very newbie to Linux. Any help would be wonderful.

Default Re: Trouble installing Linux with MX4000 GPU

Problem solved. When Mandrake installs, I remembered that the first thing it does is detect USB devices, and mine wouldn't even do that. Turns out my POS Lexmark printer isn't Linux compatible. The install wouldn't recognize it, and would hang without doing anything. I unplugged the printer and lo and behold, install proceeds normally. Any one seen this before?

Even closer to Window-less!!!
