This is my setup:
FC3 kernel 2.6.9-1.681_FC3 nvidia driver version: 1.0-6629 Graphics processor : GeoForce FX 5200 (MSI FX5200-T128 MB DDR TV-OUT) Bus Type: AGP Vbios version: 04.34.20.22.00 video memory: 128MB IRQ: 11 operating system: Linux-x86 (Fedora C3) motherboard: DFI AZ30-EL (VIA KM266 VT8375 VIA8233ACD) ram in motherboard: 384 MB ata hard disk 120GB 3 partitions /boot, /home, /swap processor: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ monitor: BENQ FP567s LCD (1024 X 768) Installed nvidia linux driver 1.0-6629 and the following OpenGl Applications crash with the following errors: Tux Racer: Fatal signal: Floating Point Exception (SDL Parachute Deployed) Torcs: Visual Properties Report ------------------------ z-buffer depth: 24 alpha channel : enabled antialiasing : enabled WARNING: grscene:initBackground Failed to open shadow2.rgb for reading WARNING: no shadow mapping on cars for this track WARNING: ssgLoadAC: Failed to open 'tracks/road/g-track-3/track.ac' for reading /usr/bin/torcs: line 54: 4193 Segmentation fault $LIBDIR/torcs-bin -l $LOCAL_CONF -L $LIBDIR -D $DATADIR $* GL-117: Info: Found gl-117 data directory /usr/X11R6/share/gl-117 Info: Startup gl-117, V1.3 ... Info: Using SDL and GLUT *** glibc detected *** double free or corruption: 0x09e30f40 *** Aborted Blender V 2.35: works ok GLXgears: works fine I get: 5017 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1003.400 FPS 5379 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1075.800 FPS 5376 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1075.200 FPS Ok, to install the nvidia driver this is what I did: all this as root edited fstab to init3 reboot login as root sh NVIDIA driver script cp -a /dev/nvidia* /etc/udev/devices/ chown root: /etc/udev/devices/nvidia* Then followed NVIDIA directions for xorg.conf modprobe nvidia edited fstab to init5 reboot here I atach some files so you can see more detail. VIA Chipsets have certain issues regarding the AGP port. Entirely resolvable, I'm glad to say. If this is what's causing your problem (and it was the source of my problems) then you need to increase the AGP Driving Value in BIOS Setup. From memory, I think I found 0xDA was the value that worked for me, but it's likely to be card-and-board dependant to a certain degree, so play around with it.

Soluzar, I increased the AGP Driving Value in BIOS Setup by steps of +1 up to FF to no avail.
original value was set up at oxDA problem persists, please help |
