why does nvidia-settings don't show me the gpu temprature?

This can be for two reasons first not all cards contain temperature sensors. Second there are two types of sensors external ones added by board manufacturers (atleast leadtek does this, they did this for old cards too) and second the gpu contains builtin sensors too but those aren't allways connected (they need some external chip).
