I've tried the Powerarchiver, and didn't like it. It gave me errors and didn't have the nice context menus. WinRAR rulez

bad luck - I've never had an error and would always take one application for all jobs over 3-4 diff apps cluttering up my drives and registry.

Why not use the ORIGINATOR of ZIP format.

PKZIP, it does them ALL, except .ace files. It will do CAB, RAR, ZIP, about 11 more.

PKWARE is the grand-daddy but it's not free. That's why I prefer 7-Zip...not to mention that it has a smaller footprint, is fast, and compresses better than PKZip.

Ya I use 7Zip too. Good, free, stable.

offtopic of archiving progs.

Netlimiter is a very good program to those who run multiple net programs like me.

http://www.netlimiter.com

It lets you limit bandwidth to specific programs. eg.

give 5k to chatting, 15k to torrents, 15k web surfing, 10k for gaming. etc.

also gives you a nice little realtime networkgraph & usage statistics. And the program itself uses little resource

Still getting errors with PowerArchiver. Seems to have some issues with multiple part rar files. I had my context menus the way I like them though :-/
