Clay, check out Page 11 of this thread. I'm certain you'll find a fairly interesting post by yours truly.

(PS: Just my little joke. )

I haven't tried Foxit, but I do use ADOBE Reader Speedup to make Acrobat Reader faster.

Yeah the plug-ins are the culprit in slowdown. You can also just do this manually by removing most of them. Here's an example: http://sastools.com/b2/post/79394202

Seems that Adobe Reader Speedup does exactly what those instructions tell you to manually do; from the ARSU ReadMe:

"Notice: Since v1.20, ARSU stores unused plugins in the Optional folder of Acrobat/Reader. This means that when a PDF is viewed and Acrobat/Reader requires a
plugin for full functionality, it'll be loaded automatically for that particular PDF only."

And it also does a few other things (at your option):
--Disable Wisptis.exe from loading everytime Reader is opened
--Disable the little advert in the main Reader window
--Disable the splash screen on Reader startup
--Disable automatic updating
--Clear list of recently opened files

Probably all stuff you could do yourself, but I'm a sucker for convenience! (lazy)

No that's cool, I'll have to checkout the ARSU app. I'm all for time savers too.

Quote:
* German translation (about 80% complete)
* Scaling and rotation of selected pixels (use the Move tool after selecting)
* Ability to modify a selection with union and subtraction (NOTE: performance is currently quite bad)
* Unobtrusive update notification system
* Measurements and rulers available in inches and centimeters, as well as pixels
* Holding down spacebar allows you to pan with any tool
* Shift+mouse wheel now scrolls horizontally
* Brush tools now render a preview that corresponds to the brush size
* TGA file format support
* GIF transparency support
* Many areas have been heavily optimized for performance (scrolling, zooming in, Blur effect, selection rendering)
* New effect: Add Noise
* New adjustment: Sepia
* Brightness & Contrast adjustment now works with luminance, not RGB, scaling. This produces more correct results.
* New Rotate/Zoom user interface that allows for 3D rotation, tilting, and image tiling
* Further optimized for dual-core CPU's (Athlon X2, Pentium D) and multiprocessor systems (Xeon, Opteron)

Be advised, this version contains checkin's of fairly widely modified code, and as such, has some stability issues, the most predominant of which occurs in versions of windows outside of XP, as well as having received no internal QA, and having unfinished new functionality.

The version on the servers is designated "beta 3" (but is not marked as such) and we advise people that it remains unsupported and very much not a production release.
