Hi everyone,
I recently got a HP Pavilion zv5383EA and have installed gentoo linux on it. I'm having a problem and I can't tell whether its Xorgs fault or maybe its my graphics card? Basically I installed Xorg 6.8.0 and that went fine, I startx and that also is fine. No problems. However, when I quit X to go back to command line my screen completely messes up. It fluctuates. Thing is, I can still type and get linux to do stuff, just the monitor stays in a loop of being messed up. Has anyone got any ideas as to what the cause may be? Solutions? I have tried with both the default drivers and the 6111 nvidia drivers but with both the exit has the same results. Any help is greatly appreciated! Be sure that framebuffer is disabled in the kernel.

Yea I had that disabled and in the sub option "Video mode selection support" enabled. I've tried that both enabled and disabled to no avail :-/
