Default Help with laptop external monitor

Hello,

I have been trying to configure my laptop so that the external monitor (attached to port replicator) will display correctly, to no avail. I have minimal XF86Config configuration experience and have been plugging away at this for days. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

My system:

Sony VAIO PCG-GRT100P laptop
nVidia GeForce4 420 Go
Mandrake 10.1 Official
2.6.8.1-12enterprise Kernel
Samsung SyncMaster 193P LCD Display attached to 15-pin monitor port of port replicator

Basically, when I try to use the LCD monitor attached to the port replicator, the display is distorted and shakey as if the refresh rate was set incorrectly. I have set the horizontal & vertrefresh rates according to the Samsung specs, and generated my modlines with videogen, but continue to have the problem. This same monitor attached to a desktop system running Mandrake 10.1 works beautifully. Thanks, Christine

Default Re: Help with laptop external monitor

In case anyone is interested or having the same problem, version 1.0-6629 of the nvidia driver fixed this problem for me. No changes to xorg.conf were needed after the upgrade... Thanks for the forum,

Christine
