Default 5900 ultra 256 not scoring right numbers HELP plz!

Hi, i have a nvidia 5900 256 ultra and i tested my card in 3d mark05 today all day.

After first test, I set my graphic card to high proformace over qulitiy, tryed omega drivers, (ranked worse than official nvidia driver 66.93) ..So i tryed tweaking with settings again... And i still get a low score of 1268 (with official 66.93) rather than latest omega driver.

Than i downloaded coolbit2.reg and i over clocked my to core to 500mhz and memory to 900mhz. I tested it in 3d mark and it only went up to 1369. I can overclock my core lots more if i wanted to and 1.02g for memory if i wanted to but i dont want to take that risk.

Why is my card scoring so low? I just reformated, i only have 17 proccing background programs running. I have NO FIREWALLS. nothing.

I tryed tweaking and still, a 9500 pro beats my score. People tell me i should get a score of 4,000 or 3,000 for sure with that good of a video card. So i am wondering why its doing that to me. Please let me know thanks.

ps. i updated my 3dmark to 1.1 version already. and my windows is all up to date. I have no virus's nothing. Please help, thanks.

Your scores are where they should be.

People with a 5900 and a AMD 64 3000+ get around 1200-1400 3dmark05's

So your saying my Nvidia 5900 ultra 256 , a card that i bought for almost $500 dollars 1 year ago is crap compared to a $70 dollar 9500 pro or even over clocked 9200 pro for $50 bucks?

..............Does anybody want to buy my card for 200 bucks? Its still got its package (retali box) and works great. Its only been over clock for about 3 hours and i am about to restore everything to defult.

Hm, I woudlnt competley judge yoru cards score on 3dmark05,

If the games that you are currently playing are fine, keep it, but if you really want to upgrade you could sell your card and buy a new one, but again i woudlnt base it on 3dmark05.

No its not crap, it just doesn't perform well with DX9 shaders.

I have a 5900nu and I like it a lot, but I only paid 200 bucks for it a year ago. Worth every cent IMO.

Welcome to the last year

Seriously, when NVidia created the NV3x line of cards, it made a bet on how floating point shaders would be implemented. Enough to say it screwed. Nobody really need a 64k+ lines fragment program, everyone insist that FP24/32 is better (despite the fact that most shaders look as much good with the 12 bit integer preceision of PS 1.4) and lazy programmers use a lot of temp registers

I am playing far cry right now. Maybe like in 2 months, i will start playing CS source.

I have a couple of questions for Far Cry.

* Right now, i am running direct x9c (newst one) should i change that to like direct 8? will it improve my proformace?

* I forgot, which rez does 5900 ultra 256 proformes better, @ 1024 by 768 in far cry or 800 by 600 ? Which rez will the card play better in? I have a 17 inch lcd flat screen deal so it doesnt matter to me what rez, i would want to stick to the best rez my card would handle.

-------

p.s i just installed VXG.win2kxp.NV3x.71.20c driver and my score went up to 1382 but my temp also went up 10% which is now is at 50% total. Is that too hot? I made it so the fan is on 24-7 since i just bought a 550 power supply.

Thanks for the help guys.

You should cara about resolution, as LCDs only have one native resolution which is 1280x1024 or 1024x768 for most 17".

I haven't played far-cry but I play doom3 at 1024x768 with medium quality settings and half-life in dx9 mode at 800x600.

You should always have the latest directX version.

Play them both and decide for yourself which one you like better.
