Whoops typo, its 23.38 avg for chronicles of riddick

As for the riddick scores, it is nearly double what I get with 1 Ultra, I just don't think its properly optimized in the 2.0++ mode.

I think Jakup is CPU limited in some of the aplications he is running. Also, i would like people to explain "higher fps nrs" ( no disrespect or anithing), but 1600x1200 at 8xSAA and 16xAF with smooth gameplay is more important than 500 fps in Quake (or whatever game ppl wouild like to name)
BladeRunner, thank you for the info.I got a m8 of mine who has a Leadtek6800GT on a P4EE and is havving lots of problems (slowdowns), and obviously all the feedback on forums. It's nice to know this

Congrats Jakup - Awesome rig.

Some of those benches are WAY below what I would have wanted to see if I had just spent the money you did.

Still - nice rig

Lol, good one BladeRunner, hey I am playing Riddick on my sli setup I notice that 2.0++ shader runs slows too but 2.0 shader runs faster (current setting I am using now), wish they implemented 3.0 shader just to see how it will run. One more thing this game rocks has a pretty good storyline which breaks or makes the game!

This is another area where more is almost always going to be better..bad game engines & poor ports. I know it's not the hardware's fault, but You can never have enough power as there will always be games like this, especially while they keep optimising them for those damn Playstation & Xbox things. Of course SLI won't improve Deus Ex 2 as a game and it still don't run how it should do related to it's graphics, but hey I'd still like to play it through myself with some smoothness, now I can with SLI. Another is IGI2, again a poor running but good looking game, which runs much better with the extra umpf of SLI.. oh and tell your mate to get the Deus Ex2 texture pack if he hasn't.. not only does it look much better, it tends to run smoother, (although levels take longer to load)

I agree. Games ported from consoles usually need a card a year ahead to get anything smooth out of them. And even then it's not so great.

Off topic a bit, but do you think (atleast with Xbox) it would be better and probably faster to just release a PC version and THEN port it to consoles?
And I mean better as in less buggy all around and faster as in less work to port that direction.

I think it's partly to do with game optimisation too... Farycry ATI, Doom3 Nvidia ??

This got lost in that other silly topic:-

An aside, pure speculation for the sake of sensible discussion, but If it were possible to get X850XTPE's to work in nvidia's SLI, (I know it's not), I'd think they would give quite a bit more performance generally due to the ATI cards taking less of a hit on higher AA /AF settings??

opinions anyone?

TierMann

I don't want this topic to get into pro & anti console discussion, they have there place in gaming but personally I hate them. Had an Xbox... hated it, sold it again. Awful graphics, along with game slows downs when it's only rendering 640x480.

Anyhow my hate is more because of the potentially good PC games consoles ruin. We have to wait ages for Grand Theft Auto now because it comes out on Playstation first, The original was a PC game initially IIRC. Omikron was truncated & spoilt by a mid development switch to Playstation support.. do I need to mention Halo, Deus Ex 2, TR series, it goes on and on. I wish they would make games for PC only, and concentrate on making them more involving in graphics, atmosphere and gameplay, while making the console games more "quick fun in a take it or leave it style". Unfortunately it all comes down to money at the end of the day and console support is where it's mostly at
