Default NFORCE Sound crackily

I am running gentoo 2004.3 64 bit, I have my network, video, and sound working.

but my sound crackles when playing games or watching movies, im using the module nvsound, i previously used the intelx810 or whatever it was, and that worked fine.

wasn't sure if this is common or what i can do short of installing the sound drivers again.

It sometimes crackles a little more when the computer is thinking more, is there a way for me to have a higher process order than others? or have a higher buffer?
