Exclamation O.K. Where To?

I would like to exit my Windows knowledge and gain information on Linux operating systems. My main quest is to set up a computer with a Linux red hat operating system with something that is not too drastic as to throw my Windows GUI skills off kilter. Breaking into Linux has been a trip to say the least. I want to be able to download the operating system without cost and install it and use it from scratch. WHERE can I download the whole shooting match? No add on kernels, no upgrades just the WHOLE operating system?
Thanks in advance, sorry to ramble however after much time effort and traveling on the Internet searching I am truly frustrated.
