Just downloaded it from Microsoft and want to give it a whirl, but is it worth it? It shouldnt be too long before its released so I figure it should be pretty safe.

I like it alot, the only problem I am having is getting my realtek ethernet driver working, audio (AC 97) and sata/raid (which I don't need)

Well I fixed my problems by downloading the beta 64bit nforce drivers released by nvidia.
Windows 64bit is very similar to 32bit, both interface (sif they'd upgrade the interface when big ol' longhorn is coming) and performance wise (32bit apps inclusive) 32bit benchmarking works just as well as on a 32bit platform. the WOW64 emulator was written *really* well, especially in compairson to microsoft's POS 16bit emulation (which I decided to stop programming in pascal because of). Also 64bit has alot of potential. With games developers creating 64bit versions of their games, such as farcry, upgrading can be very useful for an increase in cpu performance in such games. Overall, I'm very happy with how easy it was to install and use, get similar performance in 32 apps in the wow64, get increased performance in 64bit apps (which is a given since you couldn't run them in x64's predecessor), and most importantly that such a system is free to download ![]()
