Default ut2004,64bit, slowdowns on new GF6800LE

upgraded from my old GF3 to a new Asus V9999LE (6800LE),
ut2004 was running very nice in 640x480 on this old card, but with
the new card its running A lot better
But there are some Problems, the Gameplay is not "smooth", its running very smooth for about 3-4 seconds, then it begins to "slow down" for about 300ms, and then "smooth" again for 3-4 seconds. Sometimes, (every minute) the gamplay will stop ( sound is stopping, and no screen refresh), and then 3 seconds later, the game is still smooth.

System : pure, homemade linux, lfs, 64Bit (only)
Asus K8V, Athlon 3000,512 DDR-Ram, nothing is overclocked.
Asus V9999LE, gf6800, clock 300/700
Latest nvidia driver, mainboard bios, kernel 2.6.9.

I played a little with the pci-latency/ agp fast writes/ agp 4x/8x settings, in the mb-bios, but nothing helps.

Now the best, on windows XP, fresh installed (all latest drivers), Need for speed Underground, suffers from the same behaivior, but gameplay is not stopped every minute, but the "frame-drops/slow down" every 3-4 seconds are the same.

Can someone Confirm that this is a VIA Chipset issue ? Should i get a new Mainboard with K8T800 Pro chipset ?

greets, Mirko

Default Re: ut2004,64bit, slowdowns on new GF6800LE

Found a solution, disabeling agp-fast-writes, solved all problems on linux.

On Windows i switched the pci-latency from default 264 ( windows xp was not reading bios values ) to 64.

btw, thanx nvidia for the great cheap 6800LE chip, flashed the GT bios, and now i saved $200 bucks...
