Ok .. I currently have my AMD XP2800+ OC'ed @ 2.18ghz with a 348FSB. Now Untill I get my unlocker card for $10 (so I can reverse what I do) I cant get my OC I want of 400FSB @ 2.10ghz. Now im curious.... With my current OC... how high can I go even more by just doing the FSB OC. Now my voltage on the CPU is also locked with the multiplier so I cant give it more juice so im curious as to how high you think I can all go before it will not post because of lack of voltage. I need to know this because its a huge pain in the ass to reset my cmos as the jumper pin is behind my video card which requires me to take out my card everythime I need to reset the cmos. Also... is OC'ing this way safe as Im not increasing the voltage and could it cause harm to my ram or northbridge?? *specs in my sig* (note: my current OC is 100% stable)

What's your current cpu voltage? I find that if I want my 2800+ to be stable at 2.2 ghertz @400mhz FSB, I need atleast 1.75 VC. Different motherboard bios's also create strange anomolies as well. With an older NF7-S rev2 bios, my CPU was stable at that speed/FSB but only needed a 1.725 VC. But with the newer bios that I'm using now, it needs 1.75 VC.

current (and defualt) voltage is 1.65v ... keep in mind I cant change the voltage because apperently it is also locked on the chip.. otherwise id have no problem as I have 0 heat issues right now with a stock fan.

Voltages locked on the CPU? First time I've heard of it. My athlon xp 2800+ is a barton core and it came with everything unlocked from my motherboard.

The Barton 2800+ I had was multipler locked but I could change the voltage.I could run mine at 2.4gig at 192x12.5 but I had to uped the cpu voltage to 1.775v to be stable.

As for the voltage... I up mine in the bios from 1.65 to 1.675 (just to test to see if it was locked) and when i get in windows CPU-Z reads 1.65 and my Soyo hardware monitor reads 1.65 so it has to be locked (did the same test with the multiplier).

Thats why I want to get a rough idea from everyone how high I can go on the FSB before lack of being able to raise the voltage will be a big problem (because as I stated before resetting my cmos is a pain in the ass as it requires me to take out my vid card to get to it).

Just FYI, you dont need anything to unlock a CPU if you use an Nforce 2 board, it unlocks most (if not all) XP CPUs by default. So thats why most people havent had experience recently with locked CPUs. You might just want to buy an Nforce 2 motherboard honestly... it wont require any cards or mods to overclock your CPU, and it isnt permanent.

Well im currently at 2.19ghz with a 350FSB... i heard someone got 2.2 ghz with 354FSB on defualt voltage (1.65v). Do you think I could make this with a stock fan on the CPU? I have no problem trying .. but if the system does not post it takes me like 10 minutes to reset it because of thier horrible placement of the Cmos jumper.
