I'm on my second MSI board and only for upgrade reasons. No problems here with them! I love the Update 3 utility, also!

First MSI board and total rockage. Never ever a problem. I used to buy Asus and Asus ONLY...but after my Nforce 2 debacle....na...no thanks. I had two boards burn up within a two weeks. Changed from Asus....no problems.

Oh how the mighty have fallen.... my MSI board was cheap, feature packed, and has been extremely stable. Good stuff.

I bought an MSI board once. I powered it up and saw flashing rotating disco lights. I powered off, removed it and returned it. Got a gigabyte instead.

I have owned 3 MSI motherboards: K7T Turbo-R (KT133A Chipset), K7T266 Pro2 RU (KT266 chipset I think), and K7N2-L (NForce2 Chipset). My sister has a K7N2 Delta-L (Also NForce2). They all work great, and all still running today. For the K7T Turbo-R thats over 4 yrs I think. About 3 yrs for the K7T266 Pro2 RU.

I have had the occasional problem, but they were my fault or a chipset limitation, not MSI's fault. I have found their mobo's to be quality products, and I hear their VGA cards are too.

My next mobo will most likely be an MSI NForce4 one, with an MSI 6600GT PCIe video card too

why? problems with their own video cards.

no more msi motherboard for me.

why? BECAUSE ITS A ****ING POS.
Funny you should be saying this. I just dumpped my MSI Neo (KT800) in favor of a K8N-E Deluxe (Nforce3-250). I had sooooo many BSOD with my MSI board, I just couldn't take it anymore. I spent hours, and hours troubleshooting that board, I finally gave up after almost a year. I have two other computers which I built for my son's, based on the Nforce 2. They are so rock stable, you just can't get them to crash.

I just got my K8N-E running. I'm using all the same hardware and ram that was in my POS MSI board. I played all the games that were crashing on my MSI board (Nascar 2003 / HL2 / GTR) and no surprises, my Nforce3-250 is stable as a rock.

MSI uses cheap single phase power regulation on their boards (notice the heat sinks to the left of the CPU socket), where ASUS and others use 3 phase power regulation, so in my opinion MSI is crap and I won't buy them again.

Ok I don't know about MSI mobos but I'll tell you one thing. Nforce 2,3,4 or whatever = fast. Via KT333, 400, 800 or whatever = slow. In the past I always used via chipsets and did the via fanboy dance of shame. Now I've done a few acutal hardware comparos and Nforce is just faster. Now stability wise Via is just as stable at stock speeds as Nforce chipsets. The big word there "STOCK". Also you may know that as much as 10% of all electronics ordered online may arrive DOA. I've heard just as many people complain about newegg as praise them, so there must be as reason so many people are frustrated. NCIX in Canada is notorious for DOA hardware and I mean broken/smashed never coulda worked kinda stuff. I just get my local Technogeek store to price match NCIX and I end up a happy camper. I've heard alot of good things about the Neo Plat. 2 and some really fast systems are built on that platform, I wouldn't have been so eager to give up on that Mobo.

Sorry that you had bad luck
