7950 GX2 pci express speed
After extensive searching I haven't been able to find an answer to this question, so I'm hopping someone here will be able to help, or at least point me in the right direction.
I have an EVGA 680i and a 7950 GX2 video card. When I use CPU-Z to check the Graphic Interface, it says I'm only running PCI-Express 8x. My question is, is this the speed at which the whole card is running, or is it the link between the two PCBs? And, is there a way to change it? I'm not holding out much hope in being able change it, I was just wondering anyone could shed some light on this.

Re: 7950 GX2 pci express speed
No worries, your bus speed is acutally operating at 16x, using an older version of CPU-Z will confirm this.
The newer versions of CPU-Z report the PCI-ex lane width as 8x, but it really means per core/card. This confusion is due to the specific type of access the GX2 uses for the PCI-ex Bus.
I had the same question myself and the answer came from one of the forums at Nzone I believe.
Have no worries, your 7950GX2 is running at full bandwidth.
