wow, nice demo. I loved every part of it: graphics, gameplay, level design and the stealth parts. It's great fun!
I also can now definitely confirm that I don't want to play again another game without HDR. I already noticed that after having replayed FarCry with HDR and thereafter playing through HL2. There is something important missing about the lighting in non-HDR games. It just like the feel and look of it. Fortunately here in SCCT, HDR is also not overdone like in FarCry. It blends nicely into the game. |

Just finished it and I have to say it was pretty fun. The graphics are very good as well as the atmosphere and gameplay. I agree with the bit about HDR. Just for kicks, I set it to SM 1.1 and the difference is huge (as well as the framrate, hehe
). Despite the fps hit, I was still able to find 1280x1024 0xAA/8xAF to be very enjoyable. Looking forward to this game. When's it due out?

What Forceware are you guys using for best results ? I'm still on 61.77 and right now at 1024 x 768 with all Max settings sm3.0, my Gainward gs GT (400/1100) just , only just manages OK framerates .... ![]()

the only noticable difference is the HDR enabled shot . but again HDR do take a big performance hit when enabled . maybe someone need to investgate more on the *real* difference between SM1.1 & SM3.0 in the game .. in most screenshots i saw here & in Rage3D i couldent see any .

No there doesnt seem to be a whole lot of difference between the 2 modes..
I would guess the parallax mapping is what makes the cliff face a bit different (normal map on SM1.1 perhaps? or bumpmap) and how the light falls onto it.. Geometricly its prolly pretty flat and lowpoly... Demirug wrote some about why the modes are so similar and why there is no SM2.0 over at the thread on Rage3d.. http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthre...3804528&page=8 The HDR is nice, its not as pronounced as in farcry without the autoexposure feature FC uses, but its neat.. could prolly get pretty close to the "HDR look" by just raising contrast and fiddling with settings like that tho, as it is now.. Altho I havent really looked into it too much, but it seems it "only" makes things a bit more colorful and with more contrast.. EDIT another set of comparisons. SM1.1 http://upl.silentwhisper.net/uplfold...SC_02_sm11.jpg SM3.0 (no HDR) http://upl.silentwhisper.net/uplfold...C_02_nohdr.jpg SM3.0 full http://upl.silentwhisper.net/uplfold...SC_02_sm30.jpg The HDR seems to do more then I thought to the overall image, not only in the more extreme light situations.. Comparing Sams suit on the SM1.1 and SM3.0 it seems more accurately lit on the later, brick wall is slightly more pronounced on SM3.0 and shadows are softer.. Things you prolly wouldnt notice without looking for it or doing a side by side comparison, they did a pretty good job with the SM1.1 path. EDIT: almost forgot, screens are without AA, but downsampled to 1024 from 1280, so they may seem slightly SSAAed..

Also Sam's soft shadows .. actually the shadows overall look smoother with SM3.0 & maybe the lighting in his suit & the bump maps on the rocks . i should keep these shots as a good source for comparsion ![]()
