For those (such as myself) that were too lazy to make a fileplanet account to try the beta, the official 183MB demo (small!) of Swat 4 is now available for download http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/35856, looks really nice in the pics, but I've heard some rough stories about gameplay....i'd find out sooner for myself if fileshack didnt limit d/l's to 100kb/s
If and when you guys play the demo, posts your thoughts here Happy downloading!

I got it from Gamespot, I don't like its ackward animation and stiff movements. Graphics are nice but the AI Teammates get in your way often when in small rooms.

I played this at work on a 6800gt, and I have to say, this is one amazing game. I really enjoyed it. I canno't wait until April 5th (also my girlys bday)
The animation is a little stiff.. but I thought the AI was nice as far as the enemies go, and the new menu system is a breeze to use. Definetely gonna pick this one up when its released.

I don't know... I want to like it but I hate that I have to baby my teammates constantly... I do enjoy the multiplayer some (nothing like beanbagging people and then arresting them
). |

Yea, is there any way that your teammates will just follow you? I liked the demo but I couldn't find a way so that my teammates will follow me... seems like I have to tell them everywhere to go..lol

I'm dling right now . . . . going to check it out while writing an essay lol. Hope it's as good as jAkUp and everyone else said it is.
EDIT: Wow, a really nice pickup from the old days of SWAT 2. They only thing I don't like are the jaggy graphics and slow gameplay. Notice how slow you move around? The AI, your team mates, do tend to get in the way also. Overall, it's going to be a cool game, might just pick it up! Last edited by six_storm; 02-24-05 at 10:57 AM. |

I installed it, and as soon as I started to play the AI decided to try walking thru a closed door
I never really liked SWAT and now I can remember why. The graphics are always a year behind, the gameplay is slow, the AI is absolultley horrid and its basically a shockingly poor attempt at a game.1/10

I thought the graphics were very nice. Good DX9 shader effects.

They are ok, remind me of Doom 3 for some reason. It needs some of the jagginess to get out and a little bit smoother animation on your team mates. I hope the final product is a little better than this.

I liked it. It's been awhile since I've played a SWAT game. I can remember the good old FMW style SWAT1.
