I'd like to apply Zander's patches to NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6629-pkg1.run and rebuild a new package. I have unpacked the drivers using ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6629-pkg1.run --extract-only and applied the patches.
What argument should I run usr/bin/makeself.sh with to rebuild the package? |

This should work:
# sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6629-pkg1/usr/bin/makeself.sh \ --target-os Linux --target-arch x86 \ NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6629-pkg1 \ NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6629-pkg1-custom.run \ "NVIDIA Accelerated Graphics Driver for Linux-x86 1.0-6629" \ ./nvidia-installer |

Thanks, I just noticed this was already explained in post 1.0-6629 for Linux x86/x86-64 updates - unfortunately the search engine didn't find anything.

No problem. It wasn't explained at the time (the updates thread was created later).

Ah, OK.
By the way, thread 1.0-6629 for Linux x86/x86-64 updates lists 7 patches:
I had found an additional one on minion.de: Was it forgotten? Left out on purpose? |

This patch is more of a cleanup than a functional update. It's included in the cumulative patch.
