You don't know if it's going to be installed unless you research each game in advance. After installing the game or demo though, when you go to run it the first time, you will get a vague message, like, "The application was successfully installed, reboot now?" If you're like me you'll be thinking, "What application? I already installed the game and rebooted myself!" That was Starforce gettting installed on the sly seperately from the game at the time of first run. No EULA, no option to skip, a forced, automatic install.

To check if you have Starforce infecting your system already or after a game/demo install. Go to Device Manager, and hit the "View" button.
Then check "Show Hidden Devices".
Expand the "Non-Plug and Play Drivers" section.
There you'll see 2 - 4 Starforce "drivers" (read: IDE driver hijackers)

Now, if you want to have some fun....try to uninstall them there...Reboot...Oh look! They reinstall themselves....like a virus.

Ubisoft announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire MC2-Microids' (Microids Canada) Canadian development operations and integrate them into its Montreal studio. This, according to Ubisoft, is part of the game publisher's plans to double its workforce by 2010.

Following this agreement, Microids Canada's fifty employees will be integrated into Ubisoft's Montreal studio operations. This agreement does not cover any of MC2-Microids' intellectual property or projects currently under development.

The acquired game developer is renowned in the gaming community due to its portfolio of impressive adventure game titles, including Still Life, Memorick's Adventures and Syberia II.
