fx5800 bios modding

hey, just got my fx5800 and i was just wondering would it be possible to up the volts in the bios or flash it to a fx5800 ultra, becasue it does 490/1015 without artifacting however i think it could go a lot futher given more volts

yer, i got 120mm fans that i can point at it which should do the trick, is it possible to mod the bios for more volts like i did with my 6800u?

I believe the answer is yes !

If you check your bios iaw my 59xx bios modding guide, you should identify a gpu volts lookup table which is structured like "03 00 07 78 04 82 05 8C 06". This table sets gpu volts in 3D to 1.4. If you want a gpu volts of 1.5, then change the last "8C 06" to "96 07".

And if you want to do it the easy way, then just use NiBiTor to set 3D volts from 1.4 to 1.5.

But remember to keep an eye on the gpu temp when overclocking, since it can increase dramatically because of both increased gpu volts and speed.

this card runs at 36 degrees fully loaded so i doubt ther would be a chance of it overheating due to 0.1 extra volts, thanks for the help

Are you reading the 36C temp at the driver control panel ?

Only way to get real-time gpu and ambient temps is by using Rivatuner's Hardware monitor.

And without really good heatsinking, you just might be surprised how much extra heat is generated by the gpu volts increase to 1.5. Especially if you also do some extreme overclocking.
