It's impressive visually, yes. However, the technology isn't anything "groundbreaking". The artwork is amazing.

These new Unreal 3 demos are amazing, it made Source look like 5 years old engine. You probably didnt or know that Unreal 3 engine will be very first engine to support hardware accelerated physics engine PhysX chipset. With software accelerated physics engine capabled to render about 250 objects at a time, that sound not much but hardware accelerated physics engine PhysX chipset is capable to render as much as 30,000 objects at a time that will change the face of physics since 3Dfx introducted first ever hardware accelerated 3D engine chipset Voodoo 1.

Here more information about PhysX chipset from Beyond3D.

Someone from Tech Report forum attended GDC and asked Epic what system they used to demo Unreal 3 engine, they used Dual P4 EE with Dual Geforce 6800 Ultras.

Wow, and to think that this is the engine UWE is planning on making the sequel to NS for. Good times ahead.

I thought they were planning on making their own engine for NS2? Although I'd be overjoyed if they decided to go with UE3 for a new NS game, that would look absolutly spectacular and fit the game perfectly.
