Default Re: 1.0-7167 for Linux x86 released

Just compiled with 2.6.11-bk7 it works for a bit then freezes.

EDIT:::As long as you don't go into a graphics intensive app. it totally freezes. NOT GOOD.

It doesn't work here.

signal 11 when xorg start or kdm start but when trying to log into kde, I don't see the splash screen and the computer freeze... I didn't tried to ssh the box while X was dead, I can't go in console mode.

reboot

xorg crash (signal 11)

I'm using an almost fresh cvs version of xorg (11 fev)

to zander or anyone that knows:

does this release (7167) support the Geforce Go 6600 found in the Toshiba Tecra S2 and the Geforce Go 6600TE found in the Toshiba Tecra M3?

Thanks.

Worked fine for me. I did try "nvidia-installer --latest", and it still says that 6629 are the latest, so I simply upgraded from the .run file and the drivers uninstalled the previous version and updated with the new ones with zero problems at all.

I didn't even have to read the README.txt this time (read that too many times). Just exit the 'X' server and run the shell script and it's all sorted

Laptop Specs
- Intel Pentium 4, 3.0GHz, HT
- Resolution: 1400x1050
- Nvidia GeForce FX Go5700 (128MB)
- 512MB DDR

Operating System
- Fedora Core 3
- Kernel 2.6.11.2
- Nvidia Driver: 1.0-7167

Results
16714 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3342.800 FPS
16651 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3330.200 FPS
16717 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3343.400 FPS
16711 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3342.200 FPS
16758 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3351.600 FPS

Default Complete lockup with new drivers

My Inspiron 8000 with a Geforce2Go completely hardlocks with the new driver. Right when it should be displaying the nvidia splash screen is when it locks. I tried it with NvAGP set to 1 and 0. The last few lines of the xfree log are:

(==) NVIDIA(0): Default visual is TrueColor
(==) NVIDIA(0): Using gamma correction (1.0, 1.0, 1.0)
(**) NVIDIA(0): Option "NvAGP" "0"
(**) NVIDIA(0): Use of AGP disabled per request
(--) NVIDIA(0): Linear framebuffer at 0xE0000000
(--) NVIDIA(0): MMIO registers at 0xFC000000

This is with XFree 4.3 on a Fedora Core 1 install. The kernel is 2.4.22-1.2199.nptl.

Going back to the 6629 driver works just fine...

great stuff.

compiled, installed (latest driver with cumulative patch) and runs fine on my GeForce MX 4000 at 8x AGP, Fast-writes enabled etc ... brilliant - i've been waiting ages for this

i know glxgears is not considered a good benchmark test, but i get about 91.5 fps at 1280x1024 screen resolution.

Same thing here with my GF4 MX 440. Works fine with 6629+patches (2.6.11). With 7167 I can get to KDM login, but after I login X freezes before the KDE splash screen appears. The mouse still moves, but keyboard or mouse clicks are ignored. Have to reboot to recover.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I get the same problem here, it's kind of funny, I can use openbox smoothly, but when I try to start kde, it stucks at the splash screen, there is nothing abnormal I can find in the Xorg.0.log, or the output of kde startup. maybe it's a kde problem though. BTW my card is GeForce4 MX 440 AGP 8x, coincidence?

OK, maybe I borked something when I recompiled my old 2.6.7 kernel the other day because now I'm running 2.6.11.2 and everything is running great again. I'm back at ~60fps in Doom3 @1280x1024 HQ and no more MP hitching. That was weird...

That's because in the changelog there is optimizations/support for the 2.6.x kernel releases which makes things a whole lot easier for all of us.

did you use the patch (agpgart one from zander) or are you completely vanilla?
