Default 1.0-7167 for Linux x86-64 released

* Improved OpenGL workstation performance.

* Added support for XRandR rotation; see Appendix W in the text README.

* Added ExactModeTimingsDVI X config option to give explicit control
over the mode timings used on FlatPanels.

* Changed driver behavior such that PAT (Page Attribute Table)

and GeForce 6600; a fix has been provided to XFree86 and XOrg.

* Fixed stability problems on x86_64 PCI-E systems.

* Documented change_page_attr problems with x86_64 2.6 kernels;
please see the known issue "The X86-64 platform (AMD64/EM64T)
and 2.6 kernels" in the text README here:

/usr/share/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-1.0/README

* Fixed 2D rendering corruption on certain older GPUs.

* Improved compatibility with Linux 2.6 kernels.

* Fixed compatibility problems with some SWIOTLB em64t systems.

* Fixed a bug that triggered error messages of the form:

"ioctl32(doom.x86:6747): Unknown cmd fd(16) cmd(c0384642){00}
arg(ffffc75c) on /dev/nvidiactl"

* Fixed NvAGP incompatibility with recent Linux 2.6 kernels.

* Improved interaction with the udev filesystem.

* Improved performance of PCI cards on Linux 2.6 systems.

* Support for TurboCache GPUs.
The 1.0-7167 NVIDIA Accelerated Linux Graphics Driver Set for Linux/x86-64 is available for download via HTTP and FTP.

Please note: If you're using a Linux 2.6 system, you may need to preload the AGPGART frontend module, agpgart.ko, prior to executing the NVIDIA .run installer:
# modprobe -q agpgart
# sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-7167-pkg0.run
Please note: The 32-bit compatibility libraries are included in the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-7167-pkg2.run package.

*sob*

My X.org crashes (the "screen frozen, but mouse pointer moves" bug) within a few seconds of starting X with these drivers, instead of a few days with the previous drivers (at least when using RenderAccel).

For what it's worth, I'm using a two monitors, each connected to a separate card; with the cards in my machine being "GeForce4 MX 440" (AGP) and "GeForce2 MX/MX 400" (PCI). There's nothing particularly special about my X config file (and I'm running Linux 2.6.11 on an x64_86 machine).

Should I just buy a new graphics card to avoid the "screen frozen, but mouse pointer moves" bug?

with the 7167 driver, the cooler on my gpu (fx5900xt) runs at full speed from the first time i start the x server. i tried a patched and an unpatched driver, but both lead to the same result. everything else of the new driver works finer for me, i didn't encounter any other problems so far. as eabin reported the same problem in the x86 thread, this effect seems to exist also on other architectures. perhaps somebody has an idea and a patch, to slow little forrest down ;o)

to give some information:
mainboard: ga-k8ns pro ("nforce3 250" chipset)
gpu: fx5900 xt

hi just wondering if the bug with WXGA laptop widescreen monitors was fixed? The bug existed in 6629 but not in the 6111 drivers.

I have GeForce4 448Go on Acer aspire notebook (x86_64). In older driver version was all fine. Afrer upgrading to 2.6.11.2 and new last driver, X full system will freeze afrer login. I can only make cold restart.

I have same deal with my compaq presario r3000z nvidia 440. Black screen. 7167 doesn't fix it. Anyone know how to workaround this?

all working nice - thanks nvidia. With the xorg workaround i can remove the NoRenderExtension hack from the xorg.conf.

The only strange thing is i got only 1600FPS on glxgears on my new system (amd64+gforce6600pcie). I had around 4800FPS on my old 32bit Intel+Ti4200 system.

xrandr dosen't scale to the monitor size when rotated to the left or right. Output from my xrandr :

SZ: Pixels Physical Refresh
*0 1280 x 1024 ( 382mm x 313mm ) *75 60
1 1024 x 768 ( 382mm x 313mm ) 75 70 60
2 800 x 600 ( 382mm x 313mm ) 75 72 60 56
3 640 x 480 ( 382mm x 313mm ) 75 73 60
4 1280 x 960 ( 382mm x 313mm ) 60
5 1152 x 864 ( 382mm x 313mm ) 75
6 832 x 624 ( 382mm x 313mm ) 75
7 640 x 512 ( 382mm x 313mm ) 75 60
8 576 x 432 ( 382mm x 313mm ) 75
9 512 x 384 ( 382mm x 313mm ) 75 70 60
10 416 x 312 ( 382mm x 313mm ) 75
11 400 x 300 ( 382mm x 313mm ) 75 72 60 56
12 320 x 240 ( 382mm x 313mm ) 75 73 60
Current rotation - normal
Current reflection - none
Rotations possible - normal left inverted right
Reflections possible - none

Any suggestions ?
