Trying to install from a sata optical drive
I have an Asus A8N-SLI system and all of my drives are sata. Plextor PX-716S dual layer DVD burner and Maxtor DiamondMax10 250GB Sata HD (with NCQ). These are connected to the motherboard through the Nvidia sata connectors SATA1 and SATA2. The problem is that when I try to install linux using the Mandrake 10.2 x86_64 distro, my "cdrom" is not seen, so the system never loads. I do have the opportunity to load modules from a floppy, but I'm not sure what I should load or where I would find it.
I know the hardware is all functional because I already have a Windows XP install on the system, but I still would like to add Linux.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Trying to install from a sata optical drive
You should contact mandrake about this as it have very little to do with nvidia. Most likely because the mandrake install cd doesn't have support for your chipset at install time.
