Default Games crash on amd64 when using nvidia libGL.so

Hi, I am using Gentoo on an athlon 64 with 2.6.11 kernel, I installed through portage the nvidia-kernel-1.0.7167-r1 drivers (which include the patches), and nvidia-glx. When I try to run Enemy Territory or Doom 3, the game crashes after loading libGL.so. If I use libGl from X.org instead the game runs (but is slow). I tried to run Tuxracer too, and it works fine with nvidia openGl; so maybe the problem only occurs with 32-bit games.
Please tell me how should I investigate the problem.
I have generated the nvidia-bug-report.log, if you want I'll paste it here or host it somewhere.

libGL.so is a link to lib64/libGL..bla...7167.so.
if you pressed 'yes' on the installer question 'install 32bit libs' you have to edit the link to point to lib/libGl..bla..7167.so, or change the lib-link in the config file of the game (some games allow it)

Oh thank you so much. This solved the problem, now I wonder if I have to change the link every time I switch from 64-bit to 32-bit games.
The strange thing is that I set up a fully 32-bit installation of gentoo in a directory, I chrooted in that directory and tried to run the game (after installing nvidia-glx), and it crashed just like in the 64-bit environment. This is strange considering what turned out to be the problem.
But anyways, thank you again.

EDIT: Nope! the problem was actually a corrupted /etc/modules.conf file!
Actually ET runs just fine with the 64 bit libGL.so.
