agp not intialising for > 4G memory

Hi

I am hoping someone can shed some light on my situtation.

My problem lies that when I put more ram into my system 4G-->8G, agp fails to intialise

cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status
Status: Disabled

dmesg | grep NV

I need to use NVIDIA Kernel Module 1.0-611 as my software is compatible with the latest. Also running 2.4.21-20.ELsmp.

Is this a known issue? I have been googling for a while but can not seem to find any real clue so any help would be appriciated.

Since your software is compatible with the latest then why not use that?

Have you tried with a 2.6.x kernel instead? I would expect the 2.6.x kernels to be better at using large amounts of memory and possible also better support for the x86_64 flavor. Also the WHOLE dmesg output would be more helpfull.

Please run the `nvidia-bug-report.sh` script after starting X and attach the generated log file.

Just to close this out.

I meant. the software wasnt compatible with the latest nvidia driver. Bad proof reading.

However since the first post I have been told by the manufatcuer that their software is now compatible with the latest nvidia driver: 7167.

And the agp issue with more than 4G of memory is no longer present.
